Mozzarella Fresca Wins Historic Double Gold at World Cheese Awards in London

San Francisco, April 5, 2007 – Every year, the top cheese producers from the United States, Europe, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa compete in the World Cheese Awards in London, England.  In an unprecedented win, California based Mozzarella Fresca became the only United States Fresh Mozzarella producer to win back-to-back Gold medals. 

Considered to be the “Olympics” of cheese competitions, the World Cheese Awards featured nearly 2000 cheeses from more than 600 makers worldwide.  Mozzarella Fresca was awarded two Gold Medals, one each for their Fresh Mozzarella and their cultured Fresh Mozzarella.  Judge Trevor Gulliver commented, “It was a great pleasure to judge this year’s awards, the sheer diversity of the cheeses and their countries of origin made for a fascinating day and the judging was quite a hard fought affair but a worthy winner did emerge.”

Mozzarella Fresca is no stranger to winning awards, having received numerous Best in Class, Gold, Silver and Bronze medals at the top United States Cheese Competitions.  However, to be the only United States Fresh Mozzarella to win Gold, and to win Gold three times, in the twenty year history of the World Cheese Awards, is particularly impressive.
